Department of Passport to issue passports from districts for Rs 5000



KATHMANDU: The Department of Passport is going to issue passports from the concerned district with a fee of five thousand rupees with effect from June 18.

The passport, which was previously provided by the district administration office for Rs. 10,000, will now be provided for Rs. 5,000, said Director and Spokesperson of the Department, Durpada Sapkota.

Henceforth, issuing a passport from the relevant district will cost Rs 5,000 and from the Department in Kathmandu it will be Rs 12,000.

Furthermore, in the case of lost or damaged passports it will cost Rs 17,000 from the Department and Rs 10,000 from the concerned district, spokesperson Sapkota added.

It may be noted that the Council of Ministers meeting held June 7 had decided to provide a 66-page passport at the same price as the 34-page passport.

Earlier, the Department of Passport department was providing the 66-page passport to frequent flyers for Rs 10,000 from the district administration office.
