KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has expressed concern over certain political parties attempting to tarnish the reputation of his party with the aim of undermining its performance in the upcoming election.
Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Saturday, Lamichhane highlighted the challenges faced by the RSP and stated that despite public support and optimism, the party is currently facing numerous obstacles that pose a threat to its progress.
Lamichhane stated that while it may appear that the journey ahead for RSP is smooth and potentially easier in the future, he acknowledged that the road to success is not without its challenges.
He said that various political parties are creating obstacles, creating a metaphorical siege on the path chosen by the Nepali people.
Despite these difficulties, Lamichhane expressed the party’s fearlessness and determination to overcome them.
Lamichhane said that his party had criticized the actions of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari, stating that when she halted the Citizenship Bill, the RSP actively protested against it.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of action by the political parties in Parliament during that time.
Moreover, Lamichhane commented on what he perceived as an erroneous decision by President Ramchandra Poudel to validate the Citizenship Bill based on the government’s recommendation.
