JSP quits Koshi government, withdraws support

BIRATNAGAR: One of the key members of the ruling coalition in the federal government, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has left the Koshi Province government.

JSP’s parliamentary party meeting held today at Itahari in Sunsari decided to recall Health Minister Nirmala Limbu, who participated in the province government, and also to withdraw the support given to the CPN-UML-led government.

Limbu participated in the government led by UML leader Hikmat Kumar Karki on January 9.

Biratnagar, the province capital, has been restless over the naming of Koshi province for a long.

Many organizations have been protesting against the naming of the province and have been demanding that the province name should reflect the ethnic identity of the people living there.
