Feature film ‘Tulki’ to be released on Friday



KATHMANDU: ‘Tulki’ – a Nepali feature film shot on the theme of polygamy is to be released across the country on Friday.

Film producer Shekhar Lama informed that the film has showcased the practice of polygamy which is still prevailing in some areas of mountainous belt of Nepal.

“The movie has presented the prevalence of the practice of marrying multiple spouses in Dolpa, Humla and Mugu in the mountainous districts”, Lama stated.

The film was shot in the far-flung human settlements of Se-Phoksundo, Tripurkot, Ralli and Karelikanda, producer Lama added.

Director Devjung Thapa said the film has explored the theme of sufferings of a girl in upper Dolpa in the cusp of deep-rooted traditions.

The story is about the girl who was brought up in a different community of lower Dolpa and reached the upper area after having love marriage with a boy from the upper.
