NSC-CAVA volleyball: Kazakhstan defeats Uzbekistan



KATHMANDU: Kazakhstan has defeated Uzbekistan to reach the semi-finals of the NSC-CAVA Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup tournament underway in Kathmandu.

Kazakhstan ended as the Group B winner.

In the match held today at the Covered Hall of the National Sports Council (NSC), Kazakhstan defeated Uzbekistan by 3 sets to 1 set. After losing the first set 24-26, Kazakhstan won the next three consecutive sets by 25-16, 25-11 and 25-18 respectively.

Despite the loss today, Uzbekistan also reached the semi-finals of the tournament as the runner-up of Group B. Sri Lanka and the Maldives have been eliminated from this group.

Hosts Nepal and India have also entered the semi-finals of the tournament organized by Central Asia Volleyball Association with support of NSC and Nepal Volleyball Association.

As runner-up of Group A, Nepal will face Kazakhstan while India will play against Uzbekistan.
