Nepal records arrival of 326,000 tourists in last four months

KATHMANDU: Nepal recorded the arrival of over 326,000 foreign tourists in the last four months.

The tourism sector which witnessed a huge dent from the COVID crisis is slowly recovering, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.

Nearly 100 thousand tourists are visiting Nepal monthly since the beginning of 2023, it said.

Previously, the government had announced to observe 2020 as ‘Visit Nepal Year’ which was later canceled in the wake of COVID crisis.

Meanwhile, the government has announced to observe 2025 as a ‘special tourism year’.

The decade of the 2080s will be marked as the ‘Visit Nepal Decade’ and 2025 a special year for tourism.

Additionally, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati has said Nepal should lure foreign tourists by branding Nepal’s own local recipes instead of selling international brands.

Nepal’s tourism should promote its domestic cultures and recipes for boosting tourism, Minister Kirati said.
