Martyr’s Memorial A Division League: Machhindra beat Sankata to rise in fifth place

KATHMANDU: Machhindra Club, former winners of Martyr’s Memorial A Division League, beat Sankata FC and climbed to fifth place in the points table.

Machhindra won Sankata 3-1 in the match at Dasharath Stadium on Thursday.
Devendra Tamang, Bimal Gharti Magar and Olawale Afeez scored one goal each for Machhindra.

Machhindra was given the lead by Devendra Tamang in the fourth minute of the game.

In the 19th minute of the game, Bimal Gharti Magar scored a header from Nishan Subba’s cross and doubled the lead. In the 69th minute, Olawale Afeez beat Sankata’s goalkeeper Tikendra in a one-on-one situation with Saurabh Limbu’s pass.

In the 78th minute of the game, Junior Enkengue scored a consolation goal for Sankata from Nishan Khadka’s cross.

With this win, Machindra climbed to fifth place with 21 points. Machhindra has 5 wins, 6 draws, and 3 losses in 14 matches.

Sankata is in 11th place with a sixth loss. Sankata has 16 points including 4 wins and 4 draws.

APF and New Road Team shared the points in the match played at ANFA complex.
