Rajapur municipality distributes monthly allowance to conflict-victim families



BARDIYA: Rajapur municipality of Bardiya district has started providing an allowance to conflict victim families making its own procedure.

Mayor Dipesh Tharu said the municipality has been distributing Rs 2,000 allowance monthly to 17 families of enforced disappeared persons from the fiscal year 2079/80.

He shared, “It has given some relief to families of enforced disappeared persons, who had contributed to the movement of change.”

Stating that the municipality would provide the allowance continuously until the next arrangement from the state, Mayor Chaudhary opined that an arrangement of budget and plan would be made to make the allowance distribution effective.

The municipality has allocated Rs 6.5 million budget to launch different types of training and income-generating programs in order to make conflict victims strong economically.

Mentioning that they have wanted a dignified life, a conflict victim Rabina Chaudhary of Rajapur said the municipality has been doing praiseworthy work.

She stressed the nee need for different facilities including health insurance and asked the municipality to formulate income-generating programs keeping the financial condition of families of conflict victims in mind.

A total of 106 conflict victims are in self-employment programs in Rajapur.
