Election preparation underway in Chitwan-2 for April 23 by-election



CHITWAN: Work is underway at the polling stations and centers in Chitwan-2 for the April 23 by-election.

Employees have been deployed at the places and the required materials have been supplied. Election staffs reached with election materials at the polling stations in Ichhakamana and Kalika municipalities on Thursday. The electoral office dispatched the materials in Bharatpur on Friday.

Election materials including ballot boxes and ballot papers got to the election centers, said Am Bahadur Purja, information officer for the district election office.

A total of 690 election workers for 138 polling centers have been deployed in Chitwan 2. Each of the polling centers gets five election workers, he said. There are a total of 124,695 eligible voters in the constituency.

For the by-poll, short-and-medium route vehicles have been banned in the constituency. Only long-route vehicles will operate, according to a notice issued by the district administration office, Chitwan.

Long-route vehicles will be allowed towards Narayangadh in groups under surveillance, read the notice.

However, vehicles that have got permission from the district administration office, ambulances, and the ones carrying health workers and journalists will be allowed.
