EC asks all concerned for making by-election management efficient



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has directed the bodies concerned to make the management of by-election to the House of Representatives (HoR) members efficient.

The by-election is taking place in Chitwan-2, Bara-1 and Tanahu-1 on April 23.

The EC issued the directives in order to hold the by-election in a free, fearless and impartial manner.

It asked for placing arrangements to run all health institutions, including hospitals and nursing homes in the district and keep standby the ambulances and fire engines.

Similarly, security bodies and communication service provider companies have been asked for making their services efficient and easily available during election.

The EC directed to take action immediately if anyone threats and hampers the activities of employees and security personnel deputed in by-election sites.

It also mentioned that action would be taken if any employees and security personnel deputed for the election are found involved in activities affecting the election going beyond their responsibilities.

The EC instructed to make arrangements to ensure that all people involving in election related activities follow health protocols to reduce the risk of infectious diseases like coronavirus.

It also asked the concerned District Disaster Management Committee, local-level under respective constituencies and Local-Level Disaster Operation Centres of the respective local level to make arrangement for tarpaulin and plastics for the safety of election related materials keeping possibility of storms and rain in mind.
