Constitutional Council meeting to recommend CJ underway

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Constitutional Council (CC) to appoint the Chief Justice (CJ) is underway at Singha Durbar.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is also the Chairman of the CC, leader of the main opposition party KP Oli, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Speaker of the National Assembly Ganesh Timalsina, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana and Deputy Prime Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, who is also the Law Minister, are attending the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dahal.

A meeting of leaders of the three main parties held in Balkot earlier this week had agreed to proceed with the process of appointing the Chief Justice.
