Export declines by 29 percent, import 19 percent

KATHMANDU: Both the exports and imports have declined in the first eight months of the current fiscal year. The imports decreased by 19.13 percent and exports by 29.7 percent compared to the consecutive period of previous financial year.

According to the Department of Customs, the import was worth 1.58 trillion rupees in the eight months of the current fiscal year.  The goods and items worth Rs 13. 873 billion were imported in the consecutive period last year.

In the eight months of the current financial year, the export was worth 1,479.61 billion rupees, while it was worth 147.746 billion rupees during the same period last year.

Nepal has done foreign trade worth 1.163 trillion rupees in the first eight months of the current financial year the foreign trade has also decreased by 20.14 percent compared to the same period of last financial year. During the eight months of the last financial year, foreign trade was worth 1.456 trillion rupees.
