Slovak tourist dies of altitude sickness in Khumbu



KHUMBU: A Slovak tourist has died due to altitude sickness in the Khumbu region of Solukhumbu district.

According to Inspector Ram Kishor Sah, an information officer from District Police Office, Solukhumbu, 68-year-old Ark Janko, a tourist from Slovakia died on Monday night in Khumbu Pasanlhamu Municipality-4, Gorakshep after falling into a lake.

District Police Office Solukhumbu Police Inspector and Information Officer Ram Kishore Sah informed that Janko died while still sleeping in Himalayan Hotel, Gorakshep due to lack of oxygen

Sah informed that the rescue efforts have been badly influenced by the continuous rainfall in the region. The poor weather has affected the communication service as well, he added.

Janko came to Nepal for mountain climbing through Traditional Adventure.

He came in a group of 13 people and entered Namche area on March 15.
