TAPLEJUNG: Taplejung’s popular Pathibhara area has witnessed snowfall twice in the session.

Snowfall has occurred with rainfall since last night. With the rainfall since Monday, snowfall has occurred in the mountainous belt of the district.

According to Rajendra Mahat, an employee at Pathibhara Area Development Committee, light snowfall is now taking place in the Pathibhara temple area.

“The temple area has witnessed two feet snow”, he added.

He further shared that snow occurred up to Kaflepati, the lower bottom of the popular pilgrimage site Pathibhara area which is in altitude of 3,794 meter.

The higher hill areas however have witnessed thick snowfall. Locals said up to one feet snowfall was taking place in different areas of Faktanglung Rural Municipality.

Likewise, snowfall was taking place in the bordering areas of Terhathum and Sankhuwasabha and in Tinjure Milke Jaljale areas of Maiwakhola rural municipality.

This year snowfall was occurred in mountainous areas of Taplejung on February 27.

Last year snowfall however had started in the district since early January.

The snowfall with rain this time has cheered the farmers. Farmers have felt relief with the snow with rainfall in the proper time of cultivating crops including maize.

It has also relieved the farmers cultivating cash crops such as cardamom and vegetables, locals said.
