MUMBAI: At least 27 have died to the heavy rains in Maharashtra, Indian media reports have said. Eighteen people were killed in a wall collapse in Mumbai’s Malad following heavy rains.

Authorities have declared a holiday in Mumbai and adjoining regions due to heavy rainfall. They have urged people to remain indoors.

Six laborers were killed in Pune when a wall collapsed in the Ambegaon area. Likewise, a wall collapse in Kalyan in Thane killed three people, authorities have said.

Reports said a total of 54 flights have been diverted and 52 were canceled at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport due to adverse weather conditions. (Agencies)
