Speaker Ghimire congratulates President-elect Paudel



KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Devraj Ghimire has congratulated President-elect Ram Chandra Paudel by visiting the latter’s residence in the Capital City this morning.

On the occasion, HoR Speaker Ghimire congratulated Paudel for his election to the President and wished for his successful tenure as the Head of the State.

Nepali Congress senior leader Paudel was elected the President from the voting that took place on Thursday.

Poudel was a joint candidate of CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Nepal, Janmat Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Rastriya Janamorcha and Nepal Samajwadi Party along with his party, the Nepali Congress.

During the meeting, HoR Speaker Ghimire informed the President-elect about his visit to Bahrain to take part in the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The 146th Assembly is being held in Manama, Bahrain from 11 to 15 March.

Speaker Ghimire’s Press Advisor Shekhar Adhikari said that the Speaker also informed the President-elect that he would not be able to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the President since his visit to Bahrain to attend the IPU was already fixed.

On the occasion, President-elect Paudel expressed his greetings for the success of the IPU Assembly.
