KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Deputy General Secretary Shakti Bahadur Basnet has said that preparations are being made for presenting the bill related to transitional justice in the upcoming meeting of the parliament.

In response to media queries about the case filed at the Supreme Court concerning transitional justice, he said the bill will be given top priority and added that the government and the political parties were working to bring the peace process to a conclusion by creating an environment for delivering justice as per the principles and standards of transitional justice.

He also said that the decision of the apex court (to register the case) is against the spirit of the comprehensive peace agreement and the constitution.

Although it took time to conclude the issue of transitional justice due to various reasons, he said that it should not be taken otherwise while assuring that all the political parties and the government will work together to get the bill passed and conclude the process with priority.

Also, former minister, leader Basnet said that once the bill takes the form of a law the government will work actively to move the process forward as soon as possible, including through the transitional justice commissions and special court procedures.
