Nepal beat Kuwait by 243 runs on Dev and Arjun’s centuries



KATHMANDU: After captain Dev Khanal and Arjun Kumal scored centuries, Nepal beat Kuwait by 243 runs in the U-19 World Cup Asia qualifiers.

While chasing the target of 344 runs given by Nepal, Kuwait has been limited to 100 runs.

Christopher Saldhana scored 26, Yusuf Shalik scored 19 and Kishore Bhai Hinsu scored 16 for Kuwait. Other players could not even reach double figures.

For Nepal, Akash Chand took 6 wickets, and Hemant Dhami and Dipesh Kandel took two wickets each.

Earlier, Nepal, who had won the toss and chosen to bat, scored 343 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Captain Dev Khanal scored 125 runs for Nepal. Khanal hit nine fours and three sixes in 117 balls.

Similarly, Arjun Kumal scored 108 runs. He hit 12 fours off 112 balls. For Nepal, Bishal Bikram KC scored 23, Deepak Prakash Dumre scored 20, Deepak Bohora scored 19, Deepak Bohora scored 13, Akash Tripathi, Subhas Bhandari and Deepak Kandel scored two runs each.

For Kuwait, Shahil Kazmi and Henry Thomas took two wickets each and Heber Ali and Maheshwar Kumar Mehta took one wicket each.

Nepal defeated Singapore by 96 runs in the first match on Friday. Nepal’s next match will be against Hong Kong on Monday.
