Federalism is weakening: NC leader Sitaula

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Krishna Sitaula has warned that federalism is weakening day by day and that it might collapse sooner or later if political leaders do not correct themselves.

Speaking to journalists at his residence in Kathmandu today, NC influential leader Sitaula said voices of disappointment have been heard regarding the ineffective functioning of federalism. He said people have gradually lost hopes with the provincial governments.

He raised concern over the lack of unity among the political parties, which fought to establish this system while anti-federalism forces have been raising their heads, which he claimed was an indicator of unfortunate circumstances.

Sitaula urged all political forces to stand together to further consolidate the federal system. He also said that the provincial governments have not been able to perform as expected.
