UTTAR PRADESH: In what can be described as a shocking incident, four cousins of a girl raped her in a government school campus of Sitapur in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh since she was exceptionally good in her studies, Indian media reports have said.
A teacher is also reported to have joined the cousins in raping the 16-year-old girl student. They even filmed the act and circulated the video clips among family members.
The parents of the girl of the eighth standard lodged an FIR against them. Police have arrested one of them while four have been absconding, reports said.
The girl complained she was gang-raped by her cousins. According to a preliminary investigation, the cousins apparently wanted to bring her to size for excelling in studies.
The accused and the girl lives in a joint family. According to reports, the boys were often humiliated by the family members when the girl stood first in class. (Agencies)
