Nepal organizing 16th edition of Asian Cross Country Championship

KATHMANDU: Nepal is going to hold the 16th edition of the Asian Cross Country Championship.

Organizing a press conference in Kathmandu on Sunday, Nepal Athletics Association informed that the Asian Cross Country Championship will be held on Tuesday, March 7.

According to the organizers, the competition will be held under the auspices of the Asian Athletics Association.

About 450 players from 40 to 45 countries in Asia including Nepal will participate in the tournament.

In the competition to be conducted in the Gokarna Forest Resort area in Gokarna, there will be10 km for senior men and women, 8 km for Junior men (under 20) and 6 km for women (under 20) events.

Nepal Athletics Association president Rajeev Bikram Shah informed that there will be altogether 4 categories.

This is the second time Nepal is going to organize this competition.

Earlier, Nepal had organized this competition about 24 years ago, in 1999.

According to the Athletics Association, the athletes who will participate in this competition from Nepal will be selected on February 21.

According to the association, the estimated budget of the competition is about three crore sixty five lakh fifty five thousand five hundred rupees.
