Banke bans sale of substandard LPG cylinders

NEPALGUNJ: The joint market monitoring committee has banned the sale and distribution of substandard cooking gas cylinders in the district.

Following the recent incident of gas leakage and explosion, the committee carried out a monitoring of the LPG industries in Banke district.

LPG cylinders found to be defective during monitoring were asked to be discarded, Information Officer of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection Office, Nepalgunj, Devilal Chaulagain said.

During the visit, instruction was issued to bring the gas leakage testing machine at the Mankamana gas industry into use as soon as possible and dispose off a total of 210 cylinders that were found not appropriate for use.

The committee also instructed to not bring into use around 3,000 LPG cylinders which were found defective at the Bheri Gas Industry.
