BAGLUNG: The road leading to Beni through Ratnachaur of Baglung is in the sorry state of affairs.

It sees potholes everywhere. No drainage system has been placed along the road. Blacktopped materials are peeling out. Dust is all-pervasive.

Every year the 11-km road from Bangechaur to Ratnechaur has been repaired.

But, frequent flood and landslide in no time have washed away the road sections.

Passengers have been bearing the brunt of decrepit condition of the road stretching from Ratnechaur to Beni.

Though the Road Division Office has been carrying out maintenance of the road every year, it has not witnessed any substantial improvement.

The three-kilometer section of the road from Ratnechaur to Khabara was blacktopped in 2076 BS.

However, it has turned to the messy state in less than a year. Suraj Sapkota, a local, said the road turns dusty in the winter and muddy in the summer.

“No standard works have been done in maintaining road quality”, he said, adding that drainage and blacktopping have not been placed along the road section.

Information Officer of Road Division Office, Krishna Bahadur Khadka said road renovation was impeded due to budget crunch.
