KATHMANDU: A meeting of the high-level political mechanism comprising the top leaders of the ruling partner parties is taking place today.
The meeting is scheduled to discuss the election of the country’s President, and other contemporary political issues.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli agreed to convene a high-level political mechanism meeting on Thursday.
UML Chairman Oli is the coordinator of the high-level political mechanism.
The election of the President will be held on March 9. However, the political parties have not yet forged a consensus candidate as of today.
According to the agreement reached during the formation of the government, CPN-UML had got the post of the President.
This is the first time that the meeting of the high-level mechanism is going to be held after the rastriya Swatantra Party quit the government.
