Umesh Shrestha reaches EC demanding to be announced winner from Chitwan-2

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) central member and House of Representatives candidate from Chitwan-2 in November 20 election, Umesh Shrestha reached the Election Commission (EC) urging it to announce him as winner after the Supreme Court annulled Rastriya Swatantra Party chairman Rabi Lamichhane’s post of member of parliament.

Shrestha complained in the petition submitted to the Commission that he was wronged when the electoral authority did not decide on the complaints filed during the election.

In the petition, he demanded to declare himself elected in Chitwan-2.

In the House of Representatives elections, RSP chair Lamichhane won from Chitwan-2 by getting 49,300 votes, while Shrestha came second by getting 14,988 votes.
