Foreign Minister Paudyal returning home from Sri Lanka today

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Bimala Rai Paudyal, who is on a visit to Sri Lanka, is returning home today (Sunday).

While in Sri Lanka, she called on Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Saturday evening.

Minister Paudyal was in Sri Lanka to participate in the 75th Independence Day functions as an honored guest in Colombo.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that issues of mutual interests and diverse subjects of common concerns were discussed.

During the meeting, Minister Paudyal urged the Sri Lankan President to expand air connectivity from Sri Lanka to Gautam Buddha International Airport, exchange cultural ties and advance cooperation for studies of Buddhist philosophy in Nepal.

Likewise, Minister Paudyal held separate meetings with her counterparts from Bangladesh, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Also, Minister Paudyal held a meeting with India’s Minister for State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan.

Earlier, Minister Paudyal had called on Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister.
