KATHMANDU: Purna Bahadur Khadka, Vice President of Nepali Congress (NC), has urged the government and the Election Commission to announce the date of the President’s election.

Khadka said that the He election should be held before March 12.

“Without thinking left or right, it would be preferable for the dignity of the constitutional institution to get out of the circle of doubts that is now appearing on the issue by announcing the date of the presidential election by the Election Commission to be completed before March 12,” Khadka tweeted on Sunday.

It should be noted that the NC recently decided to nominate candidate from the party for the post of the country’s President.

The party has also decided to make a consensus on the presidential candidate stating that it would initiate talks with other political parties for the same.

Nepali Congress, which gave a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, is also the main opposition in the House of Representatives.

The party has been seeking the support of the ruling Maoist Center for the President.

However, the ruling CPN-UML has also been insisting that it should get the post of the President as agreed with the ruling partners.
