Gandaki Province Assembly elects Krishna Dhital as Speaker



POKHARA: The Gandaki Province has elected ruling coalition candidate Krishna Prasad Dhital as Speaker.

The ruling coalition fielded Krishna Prasad Dhital of Maoist Center as the candidate for the Speaker of Gandaki Province. Nepali Congress had presented Saraswati Aryal as its candidate for the post of Speaker.

A meeting of the Maoist Center Gandaki Provincial Assembly Parliamentary Party held on Friday evening decided to field Dhital as the candidate of the Speaker.

Earlier, the ruling parties decided that the post of the Speaker will go to the Maoist Center. Khagaraj Adhikari of CPN-UML has already been appointed as the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province.

The Gandaki Province Assembly has 60 members, including 27 from Nepali Congress, 22 from CPN-UML, 8 from Maoist Center, two from RPP and one independent.
