SIRAHA: Normal lives in the southern plains have been adversely affected due to thick fog and cold wave lately.

Thick fog has blanketed the district for the last couple of days while the cold wave has also occurred.

The increasing cold has also crippled life in the Western Tarai.

The days were sunny despite the dense fog in the morning till last week the weather is severely cold with little to no sunshine since Thursday.

The normal life in the communities has been affected due to the thick fog and cold wave and the people have been staying indoors to keep themselves warm and the poor people are forced to pass their time without warm clothes.

Likewise, a limited number of vehicles are seen on the roads and so is the mobility of people.

Similarly, the morning shift of schools and campuses has been affected due to the cold wave.

As a result, people’s mobility and traffics have gone down while patients with asthma, pneumonia, common cold and fever have increased.

The weather is foggy for the last three days. “We are restricted inside the house due to cold,” said Ram Suhaban Yadav of Nepalgunj.

Senior citizens, children, daily wagers and poor people have been particularly affected due to the cold.

Daily wagers are finding it difficult to go to work as a result of the cold, said Ramdin Godiya of Duduwa Rural Municipality in Banke district.
