Security officials now need department’s approval to meet political leaders, diplomats



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked officials of all security organs to not meet political leaders without obtaining departmental approval.

From now on, security agency officials will have to seek permission from Home Ministry to meet them.

Issuing a statement on Thursday, the Ministry has said security officials require approval to meet with members of the diplomatic community and political parties, apart from duty.

Spokesperson for Home Affairs Joint Secretary Phanindra Mani Pokharel, in a statement, urged the security officials to obtain departmental approval for the same.

Anyone defying the instruction will face action, the Home Ministry said.
