Sobhraj to be sent to France today

KATHMANDU: The notorious French citizen Charles Sobhraj, who was serving a prison sentence for the murder of an American citizen, will be handed over to the Immigration Department today.

The Central Jail carried out Sobhraj’s health check-up on Wednesday with the plan of releasing him on Thursday.

After getting the message that there was no separate room to keep him under Immigration, the authority decided to arrange for Sobhraj’s special accommodation within the jail premises for Thursday.

The Central jail official, Ishwari Pandey, informed that Immigration urged the authority to arrange for Sobhraj’s stay in jail for Thursday as Immigration had not got enough time to arrange for Sobhraj’s living for Thursday.

Sobhraj will be sent to France today itself.
