Siddharthanagar bans sale and distribution of tobacco products



SIDDHARTHANAGAR: The Siddharthanagar Municipality has banned sales and distribution of tobacco products.

The recently held executive meeting of the Municipality took the decision to ban tobacco products including Gutkha.

Chief Administrative Officer Nawaraj Poudyal said that consumption of tobacco products adversely affects health of people and the wastes coming from the tobacco products would also affect the beauty of the town.

The Municipality decided to put ban on such products in acknowledgment of these facts.

The Municipality has issued a 35-day public notice prohibiting the sale, purchase and consumption of tobacco products.

If anyone found flouting the rule following 35 days shall be booked. Both the erring sellers and buyers will be fined Rs 5,000 each.

Mayor of Siddarthanagar Municipality, Isthiyaq Ahamad Khan, said that the municipality aims to make Siddharthanagar clean, green and eco-friendly town, while keeping the citizens healthy.
