Kanchanpur locals block Mahendra Highway following student’s death in bus-hit

KANCHANPUR: Kanchanpur has become tense after the death of a student in a bus accident.

After the incident, angry students and locals closed the East West Mahendra Highway. They burned tires on the road and did not allow vehicles to drive since morning.

On Friday morning, Kaviraj Baij of Bedkot Municipality-6, who was going to Kanchan Vidyamandir Community College in Mahendranagar,  was killed in a bus-hit. He was struck dead by Na 7 Kha 6521 number bus.

According to Umesh Chand, an Inspector at District Traffic Police Office Kanchanpur, the angry students and locals have blocked the East-West Highway.

“The traffic has been disrupted since morning, we are trying to open it,” he said.

The protestors have demanded compensation for the victim’s family and action against the guilty.
