University should refrain from politics: PM Deuba



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Kathmandu University, Sher Bahadur Deuba, has said the university should be free from politics and should focus its attention on academic study and research.

Addressing the first phase of the 28th Convocation Ceremony organized at Dhulikhel of Kavrepalanchowk today, Prime Minister Deuba shared that the KU had been contributing to country’s economic and social development by producing creative, skilled and capable human resources under different faculties by imparting them quality and technical education for the past three decades.

“University is the holy place for educational activities that helps students develop their knowledge, skill and capacity and enhance their hidden talents and creativity, and use them for welfare of the society and country.”

Stating that the University has its own prestige and identity in higher education of the country, he said it was a moment of pride as the products of the University had been serving home and abroad by engaging with various organizations.

He also thanked the graduated students from the University. On the occasion, the total 1,699 students under various faculties graduated from the University.
