KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) is considering to submit the report of the election results to President Bidya Devi Bhandari by Wednesday.
The EC is making final preparations to announce the final list of elected members of the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly, and issue certificates to them, Guru Prasad Wagle, EC spokesperson said.
According to the principle of inclusiveness, the EC will probably declare the names of the members under the Proportional Representation (PR) sent by the parties today.
As many as 110 members are being elected under the PR system to the House of Representatives and 220 to the Provincial Assembly.
The results of 165 constituencies in the Federal Parliament have already come.
He said that the EC is working to submit the final vote result report to the President by Wednesday.
After receiving the final report, the President will then call for the formation of a new government.
The political parties (lawmakers) need to elect their respective Parliamentary Party leader, who can be the candidate for the prime minister.
Even though there is no competition in the CPN-UML to elect the PP leader, Nepali Congress (NC) seems to have a competition as there are more than two aspirants, including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, party General Secretary Gagan Thapa, leader Shekhar Koirala, among others.
Therefore, it is not yet decided who will lead the new government.
However, the NC is the largest party in the House of Representatives with 89 members, CPN UML 78, Maoist Center 32, Rastriya Swatantra Party 20, Rastriya Prajatantra Party 14, Janata Samajbadi Party 12, United Socialist Party 10, Janamat Party 6, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party 4, Independents 5, Nagarik Unmukti Party 3, and one each from Rastriya Janamorcha and Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party.
