Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City classifies land

JANAKPURDHAM: The Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City has concluded classification of land.

As per the categorization of land by the sub-metropolis, the land from Ward No 1 to 14 of the town is ‘non-agricultural’ land while some land at Ward No 12 is included under the agricultural land.

The land plotting which was suspended will now be allowed by the Land Revenue and Land Survey Office.

Various trade and business organisations, including Janakpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, had been calling on the sub-metropolis to take a decision to that end.

Mayor Manoj Kumar Saha said a decision on classification of the land has been made.

“The provision of the criteria of a land plot should not be less than eight dhurs in area while carrying out plotting in the settlements has been retained as determined by the government,” he said.

Mayor Saha added that the land area for plotting purposes in the agricultural zone should not be less than two kaththa.

Similarly, the land from Ward No 15 to 25 has been classified as ‘agricultural’ and ‘non-agricultural’.

The owner of the land can submit an application at the Sub-Metropolitan City Office if they want to keep their land under the agricultural land.

Mayor Saha said that although the land has been classified no increment has been made in the tax.

The decision on the classification of land was communicated to the bodies concerned, including the Land Revenue and Survey Office, on Friday itself.

The land plotting was halted in the sub-metropolis as the land had not been classified and the land transaction was also suspended as a result.

The selling and buying of land will now likely go up in Janakpur with the sub-metropolis concluding the classification of land.

Although the Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City has concluded land classification, other local governments in Dhanusha District have not done so.
