Maoist Center decides to seek consensus within ruling coalition

Dev Gurung says, no talk about coalition with UML

KATHMANDU:  The CPN-Maoist Center has decided to proceed with consensus and understanding with all parties.

After the official meeting held at the party’s central office in Parisdanda, Kathmandu, Maoist Center General Secretary Dev Gurung made it clear that his party would go ahead after discussing the government formation within the coalition party.

He said that the ruling coalition will hold a meeting tomorrow after reviewing the election and form an opinion on the government formation.

Leader Gurung claimed that there was no discussion about forming a government with UML as they are now in the ruling alliance.

“I don’t know in what context the spokesperson talked about the alternative to the incumbent coalition yesterday,” he said, adding, “However, the option of government formation has not been discussed so far.”

The Maoist Center general secretary claimed the coalition practice was successful.

“Even though the alliance did not yield relatively good results, it was fundamentally successful,”   Gurung said, adding, “There may have been a slight upturn in the election. We have to accept it and move forward forging consensus.”
