UML ahead in PR vote count; NC following



KATHMANDU: Counting of votes cast under the proportional representation (PR) system of the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly is almost complete.

The CPN-UML has garnered the most seats under the PR category.

According to the Election Commission (EC), the UML has got 27,88,356 (26.76%) votes under the PR system of the HoR.

Similarly, the Nepali Congress, which won the highest number of seats under the first-past-the-post electoral system, obtained 2,6607,246 (25.53%) votes followed by the CPN (Maoist Centre) with 1,162,124.

Likewise, the Rastriya Swatantra Party has garnered 1,124,543 (10.79%) votes securing its fourth position in the PR votes.

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party secured 586,638 votes, while the Janata Samajwadi Party 420,946 votes and the Janamat Party 394,523 votes obtaining minimum votes to become the national political party.

Likewise, the CPN (Unified Socialist) has obtained 294,362 votes and the Nagarik Unmukti Party has 271,662 votes.
