Police choose firing after demonstrators invade prohibited area in Dhangadhi

KATHMANDU: The Police took to the use of eight rounds of aerial fire and tear gas in Dhangadhi to disperse the crowd after the students protested in an area prohibited by the local administration.

The students dispersed after the firing. The students protested after the death of Chetna Saud, a 16-year-old girl studying in Panchodaya High School was killed by a grader on Thursday.

Chetna Saud, a class 8 student of Panchodaya Secondary School in Dhangadhi, was crushed to death by a grader during road construction at 10 am on Thursday. Her body is now kept in the mortuary of Seti Provincial Hospital.

After the incident, the students went on a rampage, and the district administration office Kailali issued a prohibitory order from 7 pm on Thursday until further notice.

Police detained more than a dozen students who participated in the demonstration.

Discussions are going on between the relatives of the deceased, the construction company and the administration.
