NHRC urged to not close office in Khotang



KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has been urged not to close its office in Khotang district.

A team led by Mayor of Rupakot Majhuwagadhi, Tirtharaj Bhattarai, met NHRC Chairman Tap Bahadur Magar on Sunday and made such a request.

The team submitted a memorandum, reaching the central office of NHRC.

In response, NHRC Chairman Magar informed that they had not planned to remove its office from Khotang.

He was happy see such activism of local people for the cause of human rights. The team led by Mayor Bhattarai met NHRC Chairman Magar in the wake of the preparation to remove its sub-regional office from Khotang, according to Mayor Bhattarai.

The office is in its own land in Khotang and has the jurisdiction to look after the human rights issues in Khotang, Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga and Bhojpur districts.
