PR votes: UML leading followed by Nepali Congress



KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML is leading in the vote count under proportional representation garnering 22,90,397 votes so far followed by Nepali Congress with 21,91,382 votes.

Similarly, CPN Maoist has been able to secure the third position with 958,418 votes.

The fourth party in rank to get proportional votes is Rastriya Swatantra Party which also collected 918,435 votes.

Similarly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party received 484,939 votes, Janata Samajbadi Party 279,939 votes, CPN (Unified Socialist) 218,211 votes, Nagarik Unmukti Party 196,686 votes, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party 116,657 votes, Nepal Workers and Peasant Party just over 69,825 votes.

The Rastriya Janamorcha Party is in the last rank getting 43,016 votes under the proportional election.

There is a constitutional provision that a total of 110 members are elected to the House of Representatives via the proportional electoral system.

The vote turnout in the election to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly was 61 percent.

There were more than 17.9 million voters registered for the election.

For the first-past-the-post election, there were 2,412 candidates while for the proportional election under FPTP, there are 2,199 candidates in the final closed list.
