WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has said his administration would impose fresh sanctions on Iran from Monday, media reports have said.

Trump, however, said that he wanted to make a deal with the country to bolster its flagging economy.

An Iranian missile had on Thursday destroyed a U.S. Global Hawk surveillance drone, which Washington said it happened in international airspace.

Later, President Trump had said he called off a military strike to retaliate to avert killings.

Iran, meanwhile, said that they shot down the drone over its territory and warned it would respond to any U.S. threat. (Agencies)
