Elections held in peaceful, systematic ways: Observers



KATHMANDU: The elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) and provincial assembly held were conducted in a peaceful and systematic ways except some sporadic incidents, election observers said.

The General Election Observation Committee (GEOC) Nepal said there was an encouraging participation of people with physical disabilities, senior citizens and voters of different classes, communities, sexes and status in the elections.

General Secretary of GEOC Krishna Man Pradhan said political parties, candidates and voters’ restrained, constructive and calm manner helped contribute to the peaceful happening of the elections.

The organization drew such conclusion based on a preliminary report of 10 special observers’ team that comprised former Chief Justice, former Chief Election Commissioner, for Chief Secretary and others. GEOC had deployed the polls observers across the country.

Likewise, the National Election Observation Committee (NEOC) also deployed 1,800 observers to observe the polls nationwide.
