UML Chair Oli hopeful ruling coalition will collapse due to Prachanda’s erratic character

KATHMANDU: Labeling the five-party ruling coalition as an “alliance of vested interest groups”, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli said the alliance will collapse after the election because of Maoist Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda’s “erratic character”.

Oli raised suspicion over the future of the coalition saying, “I am well aware of Prachanda’s unstable character. Moreover, this alliance is formed on the basis of vested interests”.

UML Chair Oli sniffed sarcasm over Prachanda’s claim of being a dynamic leader saying, “Prachandacalls himself dynamic. But if you look back to his past, he has never been stable.”

Therefore, Oli is assured that Prachanda will leave the alliance after the elections.

Meanwhile, speaking at an election rally in Chitwan on Saturday, Prachanda reiterated that the five-party alliance would continue even after the elections.

Dahal, who is contesting for the House of Representatives member from Gorkha Constituency no 2, said NC cadres and leaders should not hesitate to cast their vote for Maoist Centre and vice-versa.

Prachanda said the current coalition of the five parties will continue until the risk of regression remains in the country, adding that the alliance was made for stability and development in the country.

He also observed that just the way republic and constitution were possible when his party and NC came together, development and prosperity would be easier to realize if two parties worked together.

Oli, meanwhile, is not convinced. Speaking at an online TV, Oli says, “For now, their (NC and Maoist) main opponent is KP Oli. This is their common interest, meaning it is the Oli factor that has glued them.”

Therefore, the future of selfishness will be shattered after this election. I am saying that there is no guarantee that Prachanda Deuba will remain in the coalition after the election.

Another point that Oli raised during the interview to justify his claim was about the election manifesto, in which he claimed the parties unveiled their respective manifestos instead of bringing a single manifesto.

“Whose manifesto are they going to implement after the elections?” Oli asked further justifying his forecast and claiming that the UML would become the largest party after the November 20 elections.

He went on to criticize the Maoist Center for being nothing more than a “broker” and a “political trader” accustomed to swinging from one party to the other.
