SC issues short-term interim order to halt action against “No Not Again” campaign
The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order to halt any kind of action against the operators of the “No Not Again” Facebook page and group.
The Election Commission ordered the “No Not Again” Facebook page and group to be closed for making defamatory statements against the candidates.
Likewise, the Commission requested Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police to monitor the expression and offensive content against the party leaders through the campaign’s Facebook page.
In addition, the Commission had also requested to take action against the “No Not Again” page in accordance with the Electronic Transactions Act.
Hearing the petition filed by senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi and advocate Anil Acharya against the action of the Election Commission, a single bench of Judge Hari Prasad Phuyal on Sunday gave a short-term interim order not to proceed with the EC’s course of action.
Parties intensify campaigning
With just two weeks left for the election of member of House of Representatives and Province Assembly members, the political parties have intensified their campaign focused in the villages.
Polls will be held in fearless, impartial way: CEC Thapaliya
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said the upcoming House of Representatives elections would be held in a free, fair and peaceful environment.
The EC was effortful to ensure that the vote would not be affected due to security reasons and vested interests of any contesting political parties or candidates.
“Re-election would not take place except in case of natural disasters affecting the polls. Those contesting parties or candidates trying to affect the vote would face action as per the laws,” he said at an event with the theme of ‘effective implementation of the election code of conduct and role of stakeholders’ organized today in Birtamod of Jhapa district jointly by the EC and the Nepal Law Society.
Chand-led CPN and others announce protest programs against elections
Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal and two other parties have announced protest programs against the November 20 elections. These three parties had also decided to boycott and thwart the elections.
Organizing a press conference in Kathmandu on Sunday, Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal, Rishi Kattel-led Nepal Communist Party and Scientific Socialist Communist Party Nepal led by Ahuti made public a joint struggle programs against the elections.
The three parties have decided to hold assemblies in Kathmandu, Butwal, Itahari, Bardibas, Pokhara, Surkhet, and Dhangadhi from November 10-16 against the elections.
Pakistan appoints new ambassador to Nepal

The nomination of a new ambassador comes shortly after the incumbent Pakistani Ambassador to Nepal Syed Haider Shah returned home after completing his term in Nepal.
A career diplomat, Abrar H Hashmi has been appointed as Pakistan’s new Ambassador to Nepal.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif approved the appointment of new ambassadors of Pakistan for different countries on Saturday.
Prime Minister Sharif, on the same day, approved the appointment of Abrar H Hashmi as Pakistan’s new Ambassador to Nepal on the recommendation of the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
President Bhandari to deliver keynote address to Reykjavík Global Forum
President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech in the Reykjavík Global Forum taking place in Reykjavík, Iceland, on 8-10 November 2022.
President Bhandari is leaving for Iceland tomorrow to attend the Reykjavík Global Forum – Women Leaders, co-hosted by Women Political Leaders (WPL), the Government of Iceland, and the Parliament of Iceland, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Women Political Leaders (WPL) has decided to confer this year the prestigious WPL Trailblazer Award on President Bhandari.
Gold price increases Rs 1,400 per tola
The price of gold has increased by Rs 1,400 in the domestic market on Sunday.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the hallmark gold is being traded at Rs 94,500 per tola and the price of worked gold is Rs 94,000 per tola.
The yellow metal was traded at Rs. 93,100 on Friday.
NEPSE increases by 43.20 points on Sunday
The Nepal Stock Exchange market has increased by 43.20 points on the first trading day of the week an reached at 1965.36 points.
With the growth of the market, the turnover also improved on Sunday. 3,913,228 shares of various companies were traded for one billion 548 million rupees. NESDO had the highest number of share transactions worth 101.4 million rupees.
Nepal sees 28 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours
Nepal recorded a total of 28 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Sunday.
Of the confirmed cases, 26 cases were detected through the RT-PCR method and two through Antigen method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 1,879 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
