KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court sent cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to judicial custody on Friday.
He has been alleged of raping a minor.
The bench of justice Madhav Prasad Ghimire sent Lamichhane to judicial custody until the case filed against him is decided after the completion of the bail hearing at the Kathmandu District Court, which began on Wednesday.
Senior advocates, including Raman Kumar Shrestha, Krishna Prasad Sapkota, Lava Kumar Mainali, Sabita Bhandari Baral and, and advocates Sudha Rijal, Subash Pathak, Anurag Subedi and Prabin Subedi pleaded on behalf of Lamichhane.
Likewise, on Wednesday, seven advocates including four public prosecutors and three lawyers debated on behalf of the victim.
On Friday, the public prosecutors responded to arguments made on behalf of Lamichhane.
The Office of the District Government Attorney on Monday registered a case against Lamichhane charging him with raping a minor and demanding a prison sentence of up to 12 years against him.
Lamichhane, who has been alleged of raping a minor in a hotel in Kathmandu on August 21, has denied the allegation against him in his statements.
On September 6, a 17-year-old minor filed a complaint against Lamichhane at the Gaushala Police Circle.
