NC senior leader Poudel recalls late Maiya Devi’s contribution



CHITWAN: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has recalled and praised the contributions of late Maiya Devi Shrestha to the party.

She was a leader whose entire life was spent in safeguarding democracy and who could bring together politics and development, he asserted at a condolence meeting to Shrestha organized by NC Chitwan on Monday

“Maiya Devi’s treatment to the society was an example of humanity,” he said.

“There are environmental problems at present. So, we should commemorate her by constructing a Maiya Devi Park for the preservation of nature and making greenery.”

Similarly, NC Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said the party should pursue Maiya Devi’s principles.

In another context, he reiterated that the current alliance was formed to protect the constitution.

Shrestha died on October 22.
