Govt’s expenses exceed revenue collection in first quarter



KATHMANDU: The current expenses of the government has exceeded its revenue collection.

The government collected nearly Rs 208.58 billion in revenue by the end of the first quarter — which is 14.87 percent of the total target.

Moreover, the revenue collection of the government has declined to Rs 208 billion in the first quarter compared to Rs 255 billion of the corresponding period of the last fiscal.

The targeted revenue collection of the government for this fiscal is above the targeted revenue of the last fiscal.

The government had targeted to collect Rs 1,180 billion in the last fiscal. This year the target is increased to Rs 1,403 billion.

Meanwhile, the government’s total expenses has increased by 15 percent above the targeted expense. It spent Rs 223.75 billion in current expenses which is 18.91 percent of total targeted expenses.

Similarly, the government spent Rs 19.68 billion in capital expenditure which is 5.17 percent of the targeted expenditure.
