9th National Games: Seven gold medals decided in athletics



POKHARA: Athletes won seven gold medals in athletics under the ongoing 9th National Games in Pokhara till this afternoon.

In men and women’s 1,500 meters race, Mukesh Pal and Phulmati Rana clinched the gold medals. Pal from the Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) completed the race in 3 minutes 52.21 seconds. In the competition, Ajit Yadav and Nageshwor Air, both from the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal, finished second and third respectively. Rana from APF Nepal finished in 4 minutes 38.19 seconds.

Saraswati Bhattarai and Rekha Limbu, both from the TAC, won silver and bronze respectively.

Similarly, in shot put, Tilak BK from the TAC and Chandra Kala Lamgade won the gold medal. In the match, Chitra Bahadur Oli from the TAC and Lalit Raut from Bagmati Province clinched silver and bronze respectively.

In men and women’s 100 meters race, Shivaraj Parki and Saraswati Chaudhary won the gold medal. Parki from the APF Nepal finished in 10.59 seconds, and Chaudhary from the TAC in 12.13 seconds. Yubaraj BK and Dilli Bhandari, both from the TAC, won silver and bronze respectively.

Nisha Chaudhary from Lumbini Province and Ramita Tharu from the TAC clinched silver and bronze respectively.

Also, in women’s 10,000 meters race, Santoshi Shrestha from Bagmati Province and Rajpura Pachhai from the Nepal Police Club won the gold and silver respectively.
