Court grants permission to detain cricketer Sandeep for seven days

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to detain cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who was arrested on rape charges, for seven days for investigation.

The deadline for investigation has been extended for 7 days, counting from October 6.

The deadline for the investigation is ending on October 12.

Although he was arrested four days ago, due to public holiday, Sandeep was not taken to court.

He was produced at the court today.

He returned to Nepal almost after a month after the arrest warrant was issued against him.

Although he had said he would surrender, the police arrested him at Tribhuvan International Airport soon after his arrival.

A teenage girl has alleged Sandeep of rape.

The police will be able to detain Sandeep for a maximum of 24 days for investigation.
